Organizational Background & Job Description

The Ethiopian Health Education and Promotion Professionals Association (EHEPA) is a legally registered Civil Society Organization, established in December 2021. EHEPA is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Ethiopian citizens by promoting healthy behaviors, preventing diseases, and supporting treatment seeking and adherence to services targeting both communicable and non- communicable conditions, including maternal and child health.
In collaboration with UNICEF Ethiopia, EHEPA is conducting a study to assess the existing capacity, barriers, and facilitators related to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Social and Behavior Change (SBC) interventions within selected health and development organizations in Addis Ababa including Regional Health Bureaus. The study aims to strengthen the design, sustainability, and scale-up of SBC programs across sectors.

Job Summary/Key Responsibilities

The Qualitative Data Collectors will be expected to:
1. Participate in a training workshop on data collection procedures and ethical standards.
2. Willing to travel outside Addis Ababa to selected Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs)..
3. Identify and recruit eligible participants for interviews in coordination with the EHEPA team..
4. Obtain informed consent from all selected participants prior to interviews..
5. Conduct both in-depth and key informant interviews in a professional and respectful manner..
6. Accurately record interviews and take clear, detailed notes during the sessions..
7. Completing structured checklists and taking detailed field notes..
8. Ensure that all collected data is complete, high quality, and handled with strict confidentiality..
9. Provide daily progress updates and promptly report any challenges encountered in the field..
10. Securely upload all audio recordings to Open Data Kit (ODK) at the end of each day..
11. Collaborate closely with the EHEPA project team to ensure smooth and successful data collection..
12. Transcribe and translate the audio interviews files with precision and clarity and submit the translated documents on time..
13. Adhere to all ethical standards and project guidelines throughout the assignment..
14. Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the success of the study.

Required Qualifications & Skills

 A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health or a related health discipline.
 Minimum of 2 years of experience in qualitative data collection.
 Proven ability to conduct IDIs and KIIs in diverse settings.
 Experience in transcription and translation of qualitative interviews.
 Familiarity with ethical research practices and participant protection.
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and good at team spirit.
 Strong Probing and Note-taking Abilities
 Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills.
 Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
