About EHEPA

Established in September 2021, the Ethiopian Health Education and Promotion Professionals Association (EHEPA) is a national professional organization dedicated to advancing the science and practice of health education, health promotion, and social and behavior change (SBC) in Ethiopia. Serving as a collaborative platform, EHEPA brings together professionals, practitioners, researchers, and advocates dedicated to improving public health outcomes through evidence-based social behavior change interventions and community engagement strategies.The association’s mission is to save lives and improve the quality of life of Ethiopian citizens by promoting healthy behaviors, disease prevention, increasing treatment-seeking behavior, and adherence to treatment services targeting communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health services, and health system behaviors.
EHEPA is legally registered as a local organization with Registry Number 5955 as of December 6, 2021, in accordance with the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No. 1113/2019of Ethiopia.

To save lives and improve the quality of life for all Ethiopians by addressing the nation’s most pressing public health challenges and their underlying determinants. We promote healthy behaviors, prevent disease, and encourage timely care-seeking and adherence to treatment through evidence-based, inclusive, and culturally sensitive approaches that encompass sexual and reproductive health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), climate and environmental health, the elimination of harmful traditional practices, gender equity, and the overall strengthening of the health system.
