The Ethiopian Health Education and Promotion Professionals Association (EHEPA) is a legally registered Civil Society Organization established in December 2021. EHEPA is committed to improving the health and well-being of Ethiopian citizens by promoting healthy behaviors, preventing diseases, and supporting treatment seeking and adherence to services targeting both communicable and non-communicable conditions, including maternal and child health.
EHEPA conducts rigorous quantitative and qualitative research, synthesizes behavioral health evidence, and monitors and evaluates health promotion programs. In collaboration with UNICEF Ethiopia, EHEPA is currently conducting a study to assess the existing capacity, barriers, and facilitators related to the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Social and Behavior Change (SBC) interventions within selected health and development organizations in Addis Ababa. The study aims to strengthen the design, sustainability, and scale-up of SBC programs across sectors.

Job Summary

EHEPA is seeking four (4) experienced Qualitative Data Coders and Analysts to support the analysis phase of the SBC Capacity and Need Assessment Study. The selected candidates will be responsible for managing, coding, and analyzing qualitative data collected through in-depth interviews (IDIs) and key informant interviews (KIIs). The Coders and Analysts will work closely with the project team to ensure that all data sources are systematically organized, coded, and interpreted to generate actionable insights aligned with the study objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The Qualitative Data Coders and Analysts will be expected to:
1. Clean, organize, and manage large volumes of qualitative data, including transcripts from IDIs and KIIs.
2. Develop and apply structured codebooks using qualitative data using analysis specialized (NVivo, MAXQDA, or ATLAS.ti is preferred).
3. Systematically code text segments (e.g., sentences, paragraphs) to identify key concepts, patterns, and thematic categories.
4. Conduct rigorous thematic analysis aligned with the study objectives.
5. Collaborate with the EHEPA research team to interpret findings and refine coding
frameworks.
6. Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of all data throughout the analysis process.
7. Contribute to the preparation of summary reports and evidence briefs as needed.

Required Qualifications

 Master’s degree in Public Health or a related health science field.
 Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in qualitative data analysis.
 Proven experience with the full qualitative research cycle, from tool design to analysis and reporting. Proficiency in NVivo or ATLAS.ti (experience with MAXQDA is also acceptable).
 Strong understanding of ethical research principles, including data protection and maintaining confidentiality.
 Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Required Skills

 Deep knowledge of qualitative methodologies and analytical approaches.
 Strong writing, editing, and communication skills in English.
 Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently or as part of a team.
 Strong organizational and time management skills.
